How I Balance Creativity and Tech as a Mozambican Entrepreneur
By Peter Gudo
People often ask me how I manage to juggle two very different worlds — one in film production and the other in tech entrepreneurship. But for me, it’s never felt like juggling. It’s more like composing. Just like in a good film or a well-built app, everything has a role, a rhythm, and a reason.
From Behind the Camera to Behind the Code
I’ve had the privilege of working as a local producer and fixer for international film and TV productions right here in Mozambique. Whether it’s collaborating with global networks like BBC Studios, CNN, NBC/Universal Pictures, Amazon Prime, or Discovery Channel, my role has always been about connecting the dots — between people, places, and stories.
I’ve also had the opportunity to support production teams from renowned companies such as Lightbox Entertainment, EndemolShine Germany, Passion Pictures, Left Bank Pictures, SuperSport, Channel 4, and The Coca-Cola Company, among many others. Each project has taught me something new about storytelling, collaboration, and the unique power of Mozambique as a filming location.
Building Tech Solutions for Mozambican Businesses
Parallel to my work in film, I founded NiigmaHost, Lda, a leading web hosting and digital services company in Mozambique. From domain registration to cloud services, we’ve helped individuals and businesses build their digital footprint.
Later, I launched Niigma CRM, Lda — a modern invoicing and business management platform tailored for small and medium-sized businesses in Mozambique. Built with the realities of local entrepreneurs in mind, it’s designed to simplify business operations while staying accessible and affordable.
Where Creativity Meets Code
You might think film and tech are completely different industries, but for me, they’re two sides of the same coin. Film taught me vision, narrative flow, and human connection. Tech gave me structure, scalability, and innovation. Together, they shape how I build products, lead teams, and solve problems.
Mozambique Has Stories Worth Telling
Mozambique is bursting with creativity, potential, and talent. Whether I’m helping a global network shoot a documentary or mentoring young creatives in Maputo, I believe in telling stories that matter — through code, through film, and through meaningful collaboration.
